Pittsford Cooperative Nursery School has been in continuous operation for over 50 years in the village of Pittsford, NY. Preschool children and their parents are provided the opportunity to share their first school experience and build special friendships. The tradition continues today with the love and support of parents like you.

Our Teachers

Our experienced and caring teachers work together with every parent to build a unique atmosphere emphasizing social development and learning through play and a wide variety of multi-sensory experiences. Parent participation includes assisting in the classroom on a rotating basis, driving on field trips and serving on on or more committees. PCNS strives to maintain a 4:1 ratio of children to adults in the classroom.

Parent Participation

Through regular classroom involvement, parents gain first-hand knowledge of their children's interests, abilities and friendships, and children gain an added sense of security and self-esteem.

School Information

  • Children must turn 3 or 4 by December 1 to enter their respective classes.
  • 3-year old classes are held Tuesday and Thursday.
  • 4-year old classes are held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

On-Site Child Care Available

PCNS offers an on-site child care service for siblings on the days that parents assist in the classrooms. The babysitting room is "nut free".

School Focus

The focus at PCNS is on promoting cooperative play and building healthy self-images through participation in small and large group activities. These activities provide opportunities for children to learn more about themselves, each other and the world around them.

PCNS offers an outstanding and varied program for children as a result of the cooperative effort between teachers and parents.

Our convenient location at the First Presbyterian Church is within walking distance to the library and the Erie Canal.
